it's somewhat true... for me, being almost 15% lighter than stock, I can get away with the prolite... you can still launch and slip a prolite for drag racing, but it ends up being harder on the clutch disc... = quicker wear if you drag race a lot and want to get a good launch. If you are used to carrying a lot of people in the car, the streetlite would be better... for all our performande at PERHAPS the expense of more clutch disc wear due to more slippage to keep revs up under hard launches, the prolite is awesome... I've had the prolite on my WRX... will be going prolite on my STI as well...

but I'm undecided on the clutch... ACT 6 puck weighs 17 lbs... Exedy stage 2 weighs 14 lbs... I want the lightest possible clutch setup that will hold 500 whp and be slippable. Any recommendations?

I don't know - personally all the experience i've had with the prolite in the past has shown it to be very streetable. My last car, granted it was an integra gsr which is much lighter than the sti and had much less torque, was very responsive to it. I've heard others running heavier, higher torque cars with one as well. I think that its more of an "urban legend" kind of thing that the prolite is too light.

In fact if I remember right (and my stats could be way off and if so someone correct me) some of the exedy flywheels way less than the prolite does.

However, I will be able to let everyone know quite soon how good it works as it is going in my car in a week or less =)

From what I've read, the exedy flywheels are all heavier... it's the PP that is lighter.

oh and the reason I went six puck instead of exedy was just prior experience with the act clutches. They are great - plus import image had an incredible deal on the combo that I got!!!

they exedy may way three pounds less, but not all of us are completely anorexic =) Hell i've got three pounds of chinese food in me right now....

I am getting and I recomend a TILTON CLUTCH twin disc Organic cerametallic combo.....
It uses two types of compound ... 1 is a organic disc and the 2 is a cerametallic disc.
Making this combo very good and comfortable for the street...
The kit comes with it own fly wheel and it cost 1600 like most twin disc on the market.
Is rated at 550 food pounds of torque to the wheels.... Tilton always rate their clutch pretty low compare what they can really handle according to my experience in the Supra community and tilton clutch....

I would go for the ACT or RPS clutches. They are both on par with eachother and feel great. Get the ACT Streetlite Flywheel...they go for like $350'ish or something? Clutches are great...around $550'ish. It comes with the pressure plate, throwout bearing, and pilot bearing with alignment tool.

I have a guy here that can install your clutch with flywheel for $350 installed. He is a Subaru Senior Master Mechanic and did mine when I upgraded. Pm if your interested.

STI flywheel with the RPS streetmaster is a sweet setup! There are many of us running this setup from the shop with great success....

Default Clutch/ flywheel combo

My STizzle is in getting my new Exedy stage 1 organic/ ACT Streetlite flywheel combo, i'm excited to have it back its been almost a week and i'm dyin here. I figured if I'm spendin' the labor for the clutch install makes sense to do the flywheel also.. I'll post to let ya know how I likes it... I'm only runnin stage 2 w/supporting mods so I figured as a daily driver a three/six puck might be overkill for now, till I get upgrade the Turbo which might be a while since I'm plannin on doin the unthinkable...marriage but she supports my habits so "todo esta bueno" for now...

Well have the new Exedy Stage 1 Organic/ACT Prolite Flywheel combo in, and was a little different feeling from my stock one i love it now. Really good pedal feel, super fast revs-smoother downshifts also all in all it is great I highly reccomend same set-up
