Default 04 STI tranny leaking cuz of axels

Instead of making a nice long essay here is the problem:

What i got: 2004 STi 6spd on a 2005 WRX with R180 full rear and 2005 WRX front axels.

Problem: The driver side axel as seen in the picture below isnt fully in. With my hands i can push it fully in and out with ease. So i guess while im driving it moves in and out and time to time it stays out and the oil leaks through it. It doesnt fully pop out since the suspension is holding in place.

Solutions??? HELP~~~

The tranny is working very nicely, nothing wrong with it, but just the fact that i have to constantly be pouring oil is annoyinng.

Pic of what im talking about:
here is a pic when i move it out with my hands (driver side):

pic of how its suppose to be (pass.side)

Solutions i have tried:

replaced this:

hopin it was the problem but still pops out! my confusion is how is the passenger side compatible and working fine but not the drivers side? is there a pin some where???

Now that i have the DCCD fully wired up in AUTO mode the axels go crazy. When i am making a tight turn the car shakes and makes this really discusting noise (clicks, tacks, and etc) but it doesnt happen when i leave in in fully open mode.

I had the same problem after doing my clutch replacement. I didnt replace the snap ring, but I found out that you have to push the axle all the way in till the ring seats in. Once you've done that you wanna jerk on the cv to see if it pops out again. REMEMBER THE AXLE HAS TO GO ALL THE WAY IN, AS FAR AS IT CAN GO.

yes i have pushed it as faaar as it can go in, even used a rubber mallet, once it goes fully in, then all it takes is a lil force with my hands to slide it out about a good inch or more. the first picture is about as far as it will come out....

All I can tell you is to get the snap ring to seat in. Might take a lil more persuation to get the axle in a lil farther.

It NEEDS to go in further, it'll bottom out on the case before the cap hits the trans body. If the snap ring in engaged/seated, it won't come out with hand pressure. It takes a surprising amount of force to seat that ring.

If it slides in and out easily, one of two things happened:
1. It hasn't been pushed in far enough.
2. You don't have the snap ring on the axle.

If you get it seated and it still leaks oil, the seal may have been damaged.

As the 2004 Sti tranny came with stubs seperate from the axle, that I also believe were different sizes, (driver side versus passenger side), your 2005 driver side axle may not be long enough to engage the circlip.
