| Lurker | I was thinking of going up to the bonnevile salt flats next month, and was wondering what the effects of running the car at 140 to 150 mph for long periods of time, say 10-15 minutes or more. Will the STI be able to handle it, should i change the tires? Im sure it will be ok, just wondering if there is anything i should know, i also want to go to some of the more empty highways around utah like highway 6. thanks This ad is not endorsed by this member. Salt flats are so cool and i am envious. |

What are the temps going to be? You might consider running a different weight oil based on weather. -st | |

| Make sure your tires are pressurised appropriately beforehand. You will be about 1500 rpm's shy of redline in 6th at that speed, so your motor should be fine, but you will hear a crazy howl after about 135, so don't freak out, |

| Professional STI Driver | Check out www.scta-bni.org The people running the salt flats have VERY strict Rules. Bin there, not done that. Do have a copy of the 2000 year rules and have read them... |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | Two things: 1) The car won't overheat - it'll run cooler than normal. As you pick up speed in higher gears the extra air flow to the engine more than compensates for the extra RPM the engine is pushing. 2) I already posted this in your other topic about tires, but you can't buy stock WRX tires - they're for 16 inch wheels, and the stockers on your STi are 17's.
