| Lurker | In Canada an STI oil filter with sealing washer is $24.00 tax in. Anybody using top quality after market filters and if so what makes and part numbers. I'm interested to know the synthetic oil of choice by most owners as well? This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | Just finished doing my first oil change a little while ago... Mobil 1 5W-30 Synthetic. $29.00 for a box of 6 qts. I used the Subaru OEM filter + crush washer. Around $5.75 for the filter. |

You can reuse those things for at least 25k miles? Isn't that being overly cautious? Or is there some type of weird crush collar setup on the STi filter? |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | That fumoto valve is nice, however does it have any magnetic properties like the stock dp? If not then that would be the only disadvantage IMO, not being able to check for metal flakes in the oil. Unless of course you cut the filter. |

| Junior STI Driver | I had one in my WRX for nearly two years and never had any problems. Some internet comments have concerned the very small amount of oil left in the valve when draining oil. All of a teaspoon or so... :-? |

| Junior STI Driver | 1.) OEM is fine. Get it from an online vendor like subaruparts.com. You won't find it cheaper and you won't find it at pepboys. 2.) Up to you. I prefer Mobil 1. At the very least go with subaru recommended. 3.) Remove the oil fill plug before removing the drain plug so oil doesn't go everywhere, and don't forget the crush washer nor leave the original one on the drain plug. |
