Default Noob dccd question

hey guys,
i recently got an 05 sti and was messing w/the dccd. i set it on 2 from the bottom. i really like the way the car feels in this setting. here's my prob., when i come to a complete stop then slowly accerlerate, i hear this scary clunking sound. its almost like something isnt working right or grinding? is this normal, or should i just leave in auto? any input would be greatly appreciated!
cheers - sorat
