Any dummy lights lit up? Where is the grinding coming from?

First off you have to understand that when you make sharp turns, your front wheels turn faster than your rear, and your outside wheels turn faster than your inside...meaning that your front outside wheel is turning alot faster than your inside rear wheel. My only guess would be that when your in autu mode, since the car can't realize your turning, it thinks a wheel is slipping, and tightens up the differential..thats when you hear the grinding. I believe it says something to that nature in the owners manual.

When the knob is all the way back, then the car doesn't try to tighten up the differentials.

Yah, its normal I beileve, for slow tight turns throw it into rear. A fluid change reduces this I have heard. How many miles since the last diff fluid change?
