| Amateur STI Driver | no lights... center diff it feels like...theres only about 24k on the whole car. no diff fluid change... it has never done this in auto before thats the reason i ask..only in LOCK and the othre modes...if i can remember correctly....when would be a good time for diff fluids? | Amateur STI Driver | I havent driven my car for about 2 weeks, when the dccd is set to auto and i turn wheel all the way left or right, or U-turn or anything, i get the "grinding" feeling in the diffs., like is at lock, when i turn the DCCD all the way down...i dont get the grinding....what could the problem be? I described it as best as i could...dont know how else to explain it...please help...thanks guys! |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2004 Trader Rating: (1) | First off you have to understand that when you make sharp turns, your front wheels turn faster than your rear, and your outside wheels turn faster than your inside...meaning that your front outside wheel is turning alot faster than your inside rear wheel. My only guess would be that when your in autu mode, since the car can't realize your turning, it thinks a wheel is slipping, and tightens up the differential..thats when you hear the grinding. I believe it says something to that nature in the owners manual. When the knob is all the way back, then the car doesn't try to tighten up the differentials. |
