IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | Greetings, all. Interesting occurence, and perhaps those of you who are more knowledgeable can assuage my fears: Pulling in to my house, I come from a side-road, then enter my steep (>35 degree) driveway at an acute angle. My diff clunks in protest when my wheels are turned sharply to the right and the car lurches a bit. Lots of bad noise. Is this the normal? My fiance's car has no trouble negotiating this turn. It feels like my car doesn't even want to climb the driveway w/o locking the enter diff! Other than this, my car has no troubles with drivability, differential noise, etc.. Just curious. Thanks for any input. Not used to a car with electronically controlled diffs, etc..Yeager This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

Just like yours, it was a right turn into a moderately sloped driveway - just as I was straightening out, it made a muffled thud/clunk sound. I got out and thought I had jumped a curb or something, but it was just the diff. Takes you by surprise the first time. |

| Junior STI Driver | Mine makes a clunking noise similar to those that 4WD vehicles make when on 4L + wheels turned al the way to either left or right when dccd is in manual mode on 'LOCK' a.k.a. 50/50. I think its normal due to driveshafts similar to those in R/C cars. Its done it since day #1 |
