Default Shifter play while in gear

Does anyone else's shifter have play in it while its in gear? Mine does it in every gear. I can move it about 1 inch left to right while its in gear. Shifter bushings?

bushings would be my guess. i replaced mine with the ones from Cobb when i put the short shifter in and there's virtually no play when in gear.

I'd recommend the TIC bushings with the Kartboy lever. Snoop Dogg drove my car and he said, "your shifter is the shizzle."

basically every stock sti shifter i've ever tried does this. Check out turninconcepts.com and you can pick up some of their bushings.

Can I get his autograph?

Anyway, bushings make such a difference in the shifter. Replace all the shifter bushings and it will be so precise, you will love it.

I have the KartBoy bushings and TiC bushings - does anyone else get a vibration noise because of the rigidity of the bushings transmitting vibrations up the shifter? I hate it, I have to turn the radio up.

I had a ton of slop, installed Kartboy Front and Rear shifter bushings, and... still the same slop, just slightly more precise changes. I think I'm going to try pivot and u-joint bushings next.

Yes, I get vibration from the hard bushings & the hardened tranny mount. I don't mind.
