IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | Does anybody know where to get the semi-automatic tranny's like the WRC rally cars have? How much do they cost? How reliable are they? Same or different gearing from stock Sti? How difficult to install? Tried a search and had no luck so I hope this is not a repost. This ad is not endorsed by this member. http://homepage.virgin.net/shalco.co..._wrc_costs.htm Yes it applies to a 1999 Focus WRC, but it's probably still close...That doesn't even include the maintenance you would have to perform almost daily (or maybe weekly/monthly you daily drove it. Installation would probably be in the $10k-$20k range and require substantial modifications. Many of the non-WRC STis use the 6spd tranny with beefed up engine/tranny mounts. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | That is way to expensive, even for me. Does anybody else besides the WRC teams make these trannys? There's gotta be somebody, somewhere, over the rainbow , that's make something like it for cheaper. Why are they so expensive? I know evil, just dreaming and thinking aboot what i can do come spring. Like i said, im building something special and unique, just finding out what are my options. Paddle shift tranny, unless there's a cheaper one out there, no way man |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | Thanks guys, i did some more shopping around and, well, no dice, that tranny is just to much money. As for the last seasons rally cars, not a bad idea but I watch every WRC show I can so It's tough spending that much money on something that you've SEEN FIRST HAND someone punishing week after week. Remember the video of the black sti that the guys was tring to get like 3.9 0-60 and blew his driveline. Would you buy that car after seening that! Anyway thanks guys. |
