For me it was less effort to rev match but that was just me. Can't wait to get it back on the car.

Just took my first post-ACPT DS install drive. I have one issue which I expect to be minor. When the car is moving at any speed and I push the shifter to the right, there is something rubbing somewhere. I have the TIC super shifter kit (KB shifter and a combination of KB and TIC bushings). I suspect that the reverse lockout cable is rubbing in this position. I will see if I can raise it up a little further. Hopefully it did not cause any damage on my short drive.

Otherwise this DS seems great. Hard to say how much of a difference I feel because it was my first drive after having the car out of action for several months. I also installed some new front rotors which are significantly lighter that the stockers. So the car felt really quick, but can't really say if it is quicker, shifts smoother, etc as others have noted.

Yea, before Jim shipped me back another he checked his stock and they all had similar flanges. So its off to acpt for inspection, Jim was expecting to hear from them last Friday on the matter.

I agree- I think it is much easier to rev-match w/ the lighter d/s. In fact, I did more of it at this track day than any previous ones.
My problem is that that the shifter itself now feels less precise than it did, and it was much more noticeable at the track. I think it has something to do w/ the increased NVH thru the drivetrain itself... And/or my not being used to it or my hamfisted driving technique.

NVH has definitely decreased on mine. Shifter vibration is nearly zero (first thing I noticed after install) Also, I know my overall cabin noise has decreased because I hear my blow-off valve and my exhaust like never before. Only concern I currently have is when making tight right or left turns, I get a noise from the inside rear wheel. Probably not D/S related but it started after the install.

Well this is deff my next upgrade. Just waiting on a PM sent out. Im kinda hesitant though, only bc i hear about vibration issues. I have uber crappy luck... with that in mind, my install wont turn out so well. O well. I order one and se what happens..

Got my drive shaft back this past week and install it today. The flange fits perfectly now. There is absolutely no vibration anymore.

Loving the drive shaft and it feels great!

Has anyone experienced any rusting on the exposed part of the yolk where it enters the transmission. I've only had mine on for 7 months and I already have a ring of rust. I started a thread with pics. I just happended to be looking at some things on the underbody of the car the other day and noticed the rust, unexpeected to say the least.

attention all aftermarket ds owners (acpt, ds shop, etc.)

Edit: I cleaned the rust off the yolk today. For acpt cf ds owners I recommend checking this area for rust periodically and cleaning it if necessary. Click the link above to my thread which explains how to remove the rust and has pictures of the area in question.

Any machined surface can rust - usually in the environment the driveshaft yoke operates there is little rust because there is enough oil mist, vapor, etc. to prevent it happening. This happens because more of the machined yoke is exposed than in the stock setup. With salted roads this can be more of a problem.

By the o-ring, if you meant the tailhousing oil seal, then it is normal to see a small amount of fluid on the bottom half of the seal as a result of removing the driveshaft. BTW, when reinserting the driveshaft into the seal the yoke surface should be lubricated before inserting the yoke nose into the seal. To prevent/retard further rusting put a film of oil or light grease on the portion of the yoke exposed after installation.

I just finished installing the driveshaft and it's PERFECT!!! The new casting which connects to the rear diff. fixed the vibration issue.

The customer support from ACPT was superb. This is one of my favorite mods to date.
