I've put about 60K miles on my CF driveshaft now. No problems, I hit redline ALOT sooner in lower gears and it pulls great in the higher gears. I was concerned that it would get brittle in colder weather, but it survived below zero Minnesota winters no problems.

this thing works great on my gt35R sti, combo'd with my act streetlite flywheel, and lightened pullies, there is a huge difference compared to how it was stock.

What is the speed limit with that shaft ?

I'm doing high speed runs on my sti, would it be dangerous to pass 170mph with this shaft ?

Thanks

Speed is not a problem, i have been 175mph in my sti with the driveshaft and had no problems. The driveshafts will spin faster at high RPMs but have a critical speed ( the max RPMs the driveshaft will spin at before reaching its breaking point) higher than what the car can put out. The driveshaft will spin well over 225mph.

I can't wait to do this, but I'm going to. I'll wait until I need a new clutch.. Then, while the driveline is in pieces I'll do pulley/flywheel/clutch/carbon driveshaft. That should be an amazing difference.

I've just installed mine this weekend and the install went smoothly. I haven't taken my car past 70 yet so I cannot comment if I have vibrations at higher speeds.

My only concern is the burning of my tranmission fluid. When I pulled the OEM driveshaft out, there was some tranny fluid that leaked onto my heatwrapped downpipe. Now I get a nice burning smell every time I come to a stop. I hope the burning smell is from the heatwrap soaking in the tranny fluid during the install and not fresh tranny fluid being burned.

Cold definitely wasn't an issue for me last winter. The week of -40 was handled like a champ, even my braille battery held up.

It will take a couple days to a week to completly burn off the fluid on the downpipe and it is nothing to be conserned about.

I'm a good 20,000 miles into my CF driveshaft, and I've had no problems. It's my daily driver, it's my track car (Pacific Raceway - road course) and no ill effects to date. The only thing I ran into was initial rubbing with the guard that was there with the stock drive shaft. I drove it home after the install, it rubbed that guard at higher speeds, I took the guard off when I got home, no more rubbing. This was 19,978 miles ago. No ill effects of not having the guard on there either.

Ya, same piece. I tried modifying the guard, with a dremel tool. No luck, it's too thick, too much steel. I just didn't put it back on. No biggie.

Don't use it after you install the driveshaft unless you are driving off road all the time. That is the only real purpose it serves. When you take it off, leave it off and you will have no fitment issues at all.
