Great write up Kevin! After a year of having this installed on my car, it remains one of my favorite mods as well. Increased acceleration across the entire rpm spectrum, easier shifts, more hp to the ground, less weight. I briefly considered selling mine only because I was short on money. I just could never bring myself to uninstall it because I loved the performance gains so much. For those of you lurking on this mod, get in on a group buy, its worth it!

Just got my driveshaft installed today and its very nice. Shifts are smoother now and rpm goes up quicker. Didnt notice any vibration up to 120 (but wasnt going that fast for long). Hopefully tomorrow the roads will be dry so I can give a better review and make sure there arent any vibrations at any speed.

I wonder why everyone stopped posting their impression on their cf driveshafts? I want to find out if the balancing/vibration issues have been resolved as my driveshaft will arrive soon.

So is it generally agreed that the driveshaft does not work well with hardened tranny mounts/crossmember bushings, etc? I'm thinking about picking one up in the future but I'd like to avoid vibration if possible.

I have stock mounts/bushings and have had my CF drivshaft in for almost a month now. I would highly recommend this upgrade. I've had my car up to 120 mph without any vibration problems.

The RPMs definitely come on quicker than they did with the stock driveshaft and getting to the stock shift light/buzzer (which I have set at 6000) through the first 4 gears is unreal.

I haven't noticed any increase in gas milege, but that's probably because I'm still having way too much fun with the ACPT driveshaft installed. Freeway onramps have turned into something I look forward to on a daily basis. I'm actually quite easy on the car and baby the hell outta her. It's an 04 that I bought in Dec. of 2003 (just surpassed 30k miles)and I've never auto-X or tracked my car but I can only imagine how much fun the car would be on the track with this upgrade.

I keep reading that everyone says shifting is easier, but I think that is misleading. It's the actual clutch engagement that is so much smother/easier. When I took my STi around the block for it's first test with the new driveshaft I noticed that the dreaded clutch "clunking" (for lack of a better word) was just about non-existant. To clarify...I'm talking about when you don't get the balance between letting off the clutch and depressing the gas pedal just right, usually the initial releasing of the clutch sooner than you should. It's tough to explain but it's such a good feeling and nice to know that with the rotational mass decreased that the clutch has an easier time with it's engagement.

Forgot to include: Rev-matching as well has been improved. Anyone saying they are having problems with rev-matching due to Throttle By Wire should look into this upgrade.

Yes it's on the expensive side but man it's worth it! Everyday drivability has been increased greatly and I really look forward to driving my car more than ever...if that is even possible. Great product, thanks to ACPT for making such a wonderful product and a big thanks to SoJDM.com for the groupbuy.

if that is true should i not get the drive shaft if i have a cusco trany/engin mounts and all the TiC bushings....? and how much viberation are we talking about, my street car is my race car, so it's not very street friendly all ready.

also how winter friendly is this, with all the salt i don't want to kill the drive shaft.

the driveshaft works fine with all the bushings, the problem before was people only replaced the rear bushings and not the tranny bushings thus causing the small vibration because the tranny bushings were still stock. the driveshaft works fine in extreme cold and extreme hot environments. if you are thinking about getting one i would recommend it.

I like this explanation regarding the gear engagement with the CF driveshaft installed. Very well said.
