IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2005 Trader Rating: (5) | Hey guys, I skimmed through this thread to find some info but would like to hear from those of you that have been following it. I picked up one of these and will be doing the install this weekend. My question is this. I have Cusco engine and trans. mounts and also the TiC Klunk Killer set. From what I have gathered about vibrations, some of you have good luck with the hardened mounts and some not. What do you guys think? Just try it and see what happens or should I be switching back to stock on any of my mounys or bushings? Thanks for the time. |

| Amateur STI Driver | Seems like an interesting mod if one had the money. For future referencers i wouldnt consider this mod being the same as just removing X amount of weight off your car. Rotational mass reductions holds a much bigger effect/ improvement than just regular weight loses. Thats why lightened wheels and etc make differences more than say taking the back seats out of your car. I believe every 1lbs you take off of rotational mass could indirectly be compared as taking 10lbs off your car. So youd have to take 100lbs off your car to equal the gains of taking 10lbs of a rotational mass. ( I will have to look up my sources of that information. ) In all honestly i would like to assume this d/s is similar to doing a light weight flywheel. Most of the noticable gains are most likely torque and not hp. I wonder how a light flywheel and the acpt drive shaft respond together... Sounds like theyd work together well.. Oh and one more note, for those who have a set rpm launch, stuttarbox, you will have to raise it higher with lighter drivetrain parts because remember now that the rpms drop faster than before therefore say you were launching at 6grand before, its going to fall to say 500rpms lower than before by the time it gets going due to less rotational inertia, therefore bumping the launch rev a little higher should equalize the rpms you take off at with your previous before acpt d/s settings. On my awd dsm i had to increase the stuttarbox launch rpms from 5000, to 5500 to get the same kind of launch due to a light weight flywheel as an example. This ad is not endorsed by this member.
