| Professional STI Driver | Well, I know there was a few problems with them in the beginning, but this guy just installed it and it seems good. Installed smoothly and there was no vibration so...something to look in to. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2005 Trader Rating: (23) | Our understanding is that the aluminum tube is larger in diameter requiring some floorpan mods. There're threads about this somewhere. Additionally, the farther out from the center of rotation you place mass (larger diameter tube), the more power it takes to accelerate the rotating part (remember the merry-go-round thingie kids play on? More kids hanging on the outside, harder to push it up to speed. Same kids move to center and it gets easier to push up to speed). IOW, if you reduce the weight of a driveshaft but increase the diameter of the shaft, you have lost some of of the weight reduction advantage as far as the engines ability to spin it up more rapidly. So, why make the tube larger in diameter? Because an aluminum tube the same diameter as the steel one it replaces would collapse under the torsion loads imposed unless the tube walls are much thicker (adding weight). Making a tube larger in diameter makes it stronger while allowing weight reduction in the walls. |

| nulla poena sine lege | Seriously?..too bad. Looks pretty stout given the intended application,Any links to reviews? I don't mind being a test mule but not if someone has already tried with bad results. |

i work in the automotive business and we sell driveshafts amongs other parts and i get calls from thier customers at least once a week stating that either the driveshaft broke or it is not balanced or a combo of my driveshaft broke and they won't do anything about it. so i end up selling them an ACPT driveshaft and i never hear from them again, unless they are ordering a driveshaft for a different car.
