| Amateur STI Driver Car: 05 Subaru WRX STi Fav Mod: Straight pipe exhaust! ! ! Location: Olympia, WA Posts: 36
IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | I have an 05 STi and I'm putting down 410 to the wheels. I have the stock axles and ever since I got my big turbo setup I've been scared to launch my car for fear of snapping an axle. I only rev it to 3000 on my launches, but I just don't know how the stockers are going to react. Any help would be awesome. This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2004 Trader Rating: (5) | It's all in driving and what other driveline mods you have. For example, if you have a very harsh engaging clutch and alot of horsepower you are going to me more apt to break an axle than somebody making alot of power still on the stock clutch (if it is still holding the power). Obviously if you baby it on launches you won't be breaking axles so nothing to worry about. If you are launching it hard alot if it depends on how proficient you are at launching. Some people break them at medium power levels and others are making ALOT of power and still haven't broken them launching their cars very hard at the drag strip (See Burnin4 - I think he's still on stock axles and making huge powa).
