Got a set of the new batch today in the mail. Installed in under 20 min, and noticably cleaned up the only remaining slight fore-aft sloppiness in the lever. The whole setup is rock solid now. Thumbs up again!

Installed mine today and was a very nice improvement. Took about 20 minutes with no hassles or cussing. I also have a nice new Grumman Wildcat to play with. Thanks Clint. There will def be more business coming your way in the near future.

Cool.

I need three people to step up who do not have these yet. We found a new source for the metal sleeve. It's a tighter fit than the 5MT sleeve (heck, we might use these for the 5mt too), but not as tight a fit as the original problem causing sleeves.

Tell your friends and have them PM me if interested.

I flew ---err, installed my bushings today, finally. I was lucky enough to get some from the first set. They were A Snug Fit (caps intentional) to be sure, but by no means was the install difficult. Thanks to TiC my shifter is flying a tighter formation now.

I don't know if the instructions include "chicken pliers" in the tools list but they might benefit from same. Alternatively one could use the factory nut&bolt and a couple of large washers to press everything into place. Also pay attention to the metal sleeve; mine was plainly tapered at one end, which was the end I used to make the blind connection with the plastic bushing inside the lever. After that it was a simple squeeze play. The other thing I did was tighten the bolt to something like 15 ft/lbs, then loosen it and retighten it to, oh I dunno, 3 ft/lbs. It's loose enough that I can turn it with a wrench quite easily; any tighter and the shifter gets unghodly stiff. This was true with the stockers too. (I'm running the Cobb lever.)

Got my pivot bushing installed today! Makes a difference (at first I thought not) after driving for a while. Installed by hand into my Cobb SS, no extra tools required other than 2- 12mm wrenches! Woot!

I know I'm kinda late getting into this thread. I had a question or two conerning these bushings and I have sent you a PM. I'm a n00b to the STi so bare with me. Just wanting to know if this will tighten up the shifter play I have. It's an 04 STi with the subaru short shifter.

Thanks

Ok, thanks for the reply. Would these replace the two sets of bushings that are beneath the car, right next to the drive shaft or the single set right under the leather shift boot? If not, which ones replace the lower two sets reachable from under the car?

Reason being, I put the car on stands, got under the car and had the gf wingle the stick and saw where the bushing are loose and give a little.

Hope all this makes sense...:P

Thanks for your help,

-Wes

man...i know it cant be that bad...when i did mine i think i used alot of lube and some sort of wedge or a big ol pair of channel locks as i recall. Now when i swapped out my rear crossmember...now that was probably the biggest PITA..esp when you're on your back using hand tools in your driveway! Itll be burned in my head forever!

i had to play with tightening torque too. I've got it tight enough, but loose enough to feel right. Only problem is it rattle like crazy mid-rpm...anyone have suggestions or experiencing this? I have the super shifter set.

no- these are not those bushings. they do have those for sale, but these bushings are in the car, not below. i have ALL the shifter bushings possible (the Supershifter set, with a cobb SS, not kartboy) and i love the feel. get that, it is what you need/want.
