IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2005 Trader Rating: (2) | why not just use an oversized long bolt with 2 over sized washers on each side of the bushing and start to tighten them which should pry the bushings into place...wouldn't that work? I mean its not rocket science just shifter bushings This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

j.k True you could use a hammer, but I woudn't want to use a hammer only b.c I'm so close to the console I wouldn't want to hit something important like my radio or something... Sometimes the anger sets it midst of the install with a hammer and things get hazzy for a while | |

| Authorized Vendor | Or you could do this - Start to insert bushing. Turn lever 90* and put the face of the bushing against the bottom of the clevis for the control rod Push lever forward using leverage against the base of the clevis to push the bushing in. Insert other bushing Repeat for other site Push as much of the sleeve in as you can Do this for the sleeve Be sure to use a grease in the lever, on the bushings, in the bushings, and on the sleeve. Now, on another note - Nis01 - please send the borked ones back to me. I would like to take a look at them. When I receive them I'll shoot you a refund. -Clint |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2003 Trader Rating: (1) | If TIC is following this thread I'd like to get their phone number to talk to them. Just tried to do this install and had some major issues. I used the 'C' clamp method with thin sheet metal shims between both faces of the bushing and clamp, used so much pressure with the clamp split one of the bushing faces. Also it pushed some of the bushing materiel through the bushing center.Even then didn't get one side to sit flush with the shifter.Ended up having to trim some of the face to get it to sit in the fork.Hoping the split face doesn't cause a problem,on my way otu for a test drive.Chris |

| NIИja | i like the feel. it took about 20-30 minutes to do. as with chris, the face of the bushing split a little, but i dont think it's a problem at all. to confirm the feel, it is supposed to be a little stiffer in and out of gear correct? again, i like that feel better but i'm curious to see if i might have torqued it to much, or if the split is effecting it (i dont have a torque wrench low enough for 8lbs.) thanks for the silver sticker. how did you know the color of my car!? oh, and thanks for the plane. |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | i used one of those "Quickclamps"to press the sleeve and bushings together...and a screwdriver to spread the metal part open a little...even if it bends a bit when you tighten the bolt it will re-form and everything will be kosher...oh and a pair of slip joint pliers...big ones to help squeeze the pivot point into the metal thing-a-mabob... unbelievable how such a minute piece can make the shifter feel soo much better!!! TiC rules...and P.S. Clint...suicide affects everyone...but dont blame yourself...it wasnt your fault. |

| Grassroots STI Racer | After reading this thread, I expected a nightmare install. Well, I just finished this on my Cobb short shifter. It took all of 10 minutes. In fact, the bushings felt almost loose once inserted. But the feel is slightly better now. Is everyone that is having problems doing this on the stock shifter?
