IWSTI Addict since: May 2006 Trader Rating: (1) | my 04 sti sychros are going out in 4th and 5th and was wondering if anybody had heard anything about the 06 sti sychros being carbon coned and if they are any better or not. If so i would like to replace mine with the 06's. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

| Authorized Vendor | I have not heard anything about the 06 synchros being different. Best bet would be to see if a dealer has different part numbers listed for them, and that would at least give a clue that they are different. My 4th synchro is starting to go, and I'm starting to put together going with a new tranny setup because of it. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2004 Trader Rating: (3) | Put mine in the shop for the second fourth and fifth syncros......got my fingers crossed that the 100k extended warrenty will cover it. I have heard a couple of places that the 06's got better 4th and 5th and 6th syncros....but not from anyone official. |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2006 Trader Rating: (1) | well i called the parts place and they had to call the help line to find anything out. but what i did find out is that for 04 05 06 they all now have the same part number so i think they are doing what you called "slipstream." also i know that they do "slipstreaming" because they have done that with wheel bearings and a couple other parts. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2004 Trader Rating: (8) | The occasional 'crunch' downshifting from 5th to 4th in my '04 STi is pretty much non-existent in my '06. However, I did have to slow down my 1st to 2nd shifts ever-so-slightly in the '06, most likely due to the factory short shifter. |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2006 Trader Rating: (1) | The 06 sti does have the carbon reinforced synchros. Rallispec has them for $25 a peice. These are for the 4th,5th and 6th gear synchros. The carbon is to better hold the heat. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
