Default axle boots & axle shaft joint portions Ques!

Hello,

anyway, iam trying to do what is written in the manual..my car is 1 year and 3 months used..so,i am feeling sound while the car is moving..the sound wasnt loud, but now it is.
some people told me it is from axle things..
so i went to the subaru service here, and they said it is normal!i said WHAT!!ALL THIS SOUND AND IT IS NORMAL!they said it is from the tires!god!wtf is he saying..so i ran away..they were such an idiots.
can anyone tell me about the axle boots and axel shaft joints?
how can i inspect them like the manual say!and is there something to change if they were expired or anything!?

and by the way,is there an email address where i can send subaru about this bad dealer?(he is the only one here).

Thaaaanks a lot.

the first thing to check for is to make sure the axle boots are not torn. If they are torn you will see a greenish grease sprayed all over inside the wheel or by the transmission. If the axle boot is torn you would want to replace it right away and would most likely want to replace the entire axle since you won't know how much wear has been caused to it.

Other things to look at would be:
- break pad wear indicator, this is a small metal tab that is on the brake pad and when the pad material is worn, the metal tab will come into contact with the rotor and can make a noise whenever the car is moving but will be especially loud when the brakes are applied
- wheel bearing, raise the car up and check to make sure the wheel does not wobble on the bearings. A small amount of wobble is OK, but probably not more than 5mm or so. If there is more, try tightening the axle nut with a 32mm socket. There are some more detailed instructions here on axle nut replacement also.

Without actually hearing the noise I can't help you much more than that. Best of luck.

Try looking on the Subaru-Global website for a place to complain and also possibly another dealer who could help with your service questions. The nearest one to you I saw was in Israel.
