nah your clutch is still fine bro. you'll know its slipping when your try to accelerate and your rpms shoot off like crazy without it going any faster... and you'll smell nothing but clutch. mine just went out and is being replaced at the dealer as we speak. i have an 06 sti at only 5000 miles and already being replaced...they're covering me because it seems it was wayyyyy too soon for a clutch to go out. normally they go out at about 40k-50k. is there anything you notice besides having to apply more gas?

yeah i don't think its my clutch, i notice my idle isn't stable at times. with protuned stage 2. it was fine before. so i thought it was my bov, so took that off, and its still not stable. almost feel like something is leaking, but i couldn't find anything leaking.
could it be timing? im only at 30k

JK,

If you are having idle hunting problems you should check out this thread:
ECUTek Reflash & Idle "hunting" only when in gear. Insight, Doug?

As for the clutch, my clutch needed to be replaced at 24K km due to a defective release bearing. My clutch wouldn't engage properly. I noticed it after about 4-5K km and it progressively got worse. I just thought it was an AWD thing. Turns out my release bearing was kaput. The clutch disc looked fantastic, even after 24K km, a few autox events, constant downshifting/heel-and-toe, and one drag strip day (about 10 passes). So the disc itself (made by Exedy) seems to be able to tolerate a LOT of "abuse".

Hey guys when I push down my clutch peddle past a few inches sometimes I can hear a squeek when Im stopped and I push it in. Also sometimes I can feel some kind of grinding when I push it in past a few inches. Is there any kind of fluids for your clutch that need to be filled that would cause this?
I have 24000 miles on my 04 STI. I have never taken it to the track and I dont drive it hard, could it possibly be a new clutch?

hmm not to sure about this one. you have the stock clutch right? if so it shouldnt be going out yet if you dont go to the track or drive it hard. you'll know your clutch is going out when you smell clutch more than usual and when your rpms shoot jump a couple of thousand when you accelerate. maybe it has to do with your gears? but wait you dont shift while pressing on the clutch right? maybe it is your clutch but i dont think its slipping...i believe it is your clutch but there is something else thats wrong with it. what else do you notice?

It only squeeks every once in a while, and it only does it when Im stopped or going very slow and push in the clutch.
Even less it will feel like there is some grinding, and that is when I am only stopped.I think it mostly feels like its grinding when I push in the clutch slower than normal. If I push it in quick it always goes smooth that I have noticed.
Is there any kind of fluid you need to fill that would affect the feel of the peddle?

The soft clutch squeak you are hearing is normal. Lots of STis have this quirk. You can grease up the hinge I believe and that will temporarily solve the problem. If you are getting a creaking/groaning and uneven clutch action, then it might be a problem with your clutch master cylinder.

From my experiences with throw out bearings on other vehicles you will be able to hear the bearing making noise when the car is idling in neutral with the clutch pedal out. If you leave it in neutral and push the clutch back in the noise should go away.

Does this mean I would need a new clutch? I have 24,000 miles on it and dont drive it too hard and have never taken it to track.
Are there any fluids you need to refill in the car that would smooth out the clutch that I may need at 24,000 miles?
