i believe i'm having the exact same issue that GAvinSti is having because the way he explained his problem is exactly what is wrong with mine. Gavin drags alot sorta from what i read. i havent taken it to drag yet but ya i have a hand full of street races...beat a testarosa, ss cam, t/a, cobra... but i really put it to the test when i rallied that mountain... cuz of all that stupid fun my car is sitting alone in some damn shop. i feel bad and responsible for what happened to her. i still cant get over the fact that its only 5100 miles barely!!!! shes at the dealer's now. i was mad parting with it. man part of me really feels dead right now. im sure you guys are just as close to your stis.

ya when i got it came with standard 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty...when i took it to the dealers the service advisor said transmission isnt covered cuz its wear and tear issue...but then i talked to a really cool sales agent like 10 mineutes after while i was looking at some wrx's for my brother and he told me to not take that service advisor's crap that it should be covered...he told me to be one hellava hard ass and they'll fix my sti free of charge...hes right!!! this agent actually new his **** while i was talking to him he was a coo guy...he knew i wasnt buying just looking but he still stayed and talked...most agents walk asap as soon as they find out you're not buying but we kept talking about stis..he loves them was comparing it to other cars in the lot...he actually said and i quote "we got all these pieces of **** v8s stangs and chargers...i love japanese technology the STi is my favorite import...second comes evo"...he was a very cool guy and appreciated his advice...so fellas remember dont take crap when you have warranty...ima fight them into fixing my sti if they refuse

Default The Clutch ARGGgggg!

Ok the service advisor just called me and told me it is the clutch. he said hes ordering parts to replace it. he also mentioned they will check the gears just in case but im sure the gears are ok. he said nothing about a charge so i'll just go along with it for now. I was looking into an exedy stage 2 twin plate clutch with flywheel. found it for $1650 online. ima go to this shop i know to see what they can do. gonna get a price ready for after market instead of the dealers just in case the dealer wants to charge me and i cant talk my way out of it.

If this were true I probably would be on my 30th clutch by now. I drag launch my car at autocross events, and go to the drag strip every great once in a while.

Looks like the lawyers are getting involved or Subaru is trying to encourage good driving habits so they don't have to deal with potential warranty issues.

The clutch is covered under the warranty, unless they decide you caused excessive wear and tear. According to my dealer, they will take off your clutch and compare the color of your flywheel to a color chart they have which identifies any owner misuse.

Anyway, if they're ordering parts why are you buying an aftermarket clutch? Let them install a new OE one, it's really good. If you burned through an OE you'll burn through an aftermarket.

I was just looking into an aftermarket clutch thats better than than the stock one just in case the dealer does want to charge me. trying to call the service advisor to see if they're gonna cover me for the clutch. i was looking into a really good like the exedy stage 2 twin because i plan on giving my sti alot of good mods and i was thinking why not start now? i guess the exedy stage 1 organic single will be fine i can always get a better one in the future right? its supposedly 30% stronger and tougher than the stock one.

i just ordered the Exedy Stage 2 (thick) ceramitalic clutch kit. it was $499 from gruppe-s out of cali. i also got a quote of 5.5 hours install time which @ $60 per hour comes out to $330 for the install. i feel like i'm getting a good deal.

hey izzo, i'm no genius when it comes to this stuff but i feel like i really messed it up that day @ the track and i've been driving it really really carefully since and i feel like i could get a nice handfull of extra miles out of it just as long as i baby it. i can't even push the pedal down half way without it slipping, but it still works great with very light throttle. good luck.
