Actually friction is your friend in a manual tranny.

That's why myself and most guys who drive the reqular wrxs use regular dinosaur oil in the tranny or at least redline mt-90.

Synthetic is too slick, great for bearings, bad for synchros. Dino oil is less slick, not as good for bearings, but people have used it forever, and great for synchros which rely on friction to match gear speed.

So in a junk tranny like the stock wrx, you need to use dino oil.

It wouldn't hurt in the STi I'm sure either.

The only thing that sucks about it is in the morning here in colda## Ohio its a pia to get into R and 1st when its cold.

FINALLY!!! perfect! i thot i was the only one.. man gotta love iwsti and the members.. mine has that vibration only in 4th as well. and gets noticable as i press on the gas, but at a little bit higher rpms when im off the gas in 4th, its smooth.. nice topic jpsti!

This thread just saved me from a trip to the dealer. The 4th gear vibration was making me a little nervous (about to start tearing out some oem parts)
