Default My clutch did something really odd.

On my drive home from work on the interstate I went to shift from 6 to 5. I rev matched and revved several thousand RPM's higher than I needed to on accident.... I think it's because I was wearing my work boots and not my sneakers. I didn't notice until I started letting the clutch out. I didn't hear the engine because I was rolling down the interstate (stock exhaust) and I had the radio on.

After a moment of feeling like a retard for completely screwing up the shift I go to shift back into sixth gear and get nothing, refuses to go into gear. So, there I am rolling down the interstate in rush hour traffic and I'm stuck in neutral.

I manage to get to an off ramp where I pull off to the side and let the car sit and idle. The shifter refuses to go into any gear. I apply a bit more pressure than normal, but don't force it.

Then I shut the car off... and can select any gear I want. I put it in first, put my foot on the brake, cross my fingers, and start the car. There's a bit of a "thump" like if you hit a bump on the highway and the car is running like normal, and the gearbox functions like it should. Aside from a very brief, and very faint smell of clutch everything is normal.

Here's my theory... I roasted the clutch when I slipped it into fifth so bad that the disc actually managed to stick to the pressure plate. When I put it in gear and started the car, something had to give, and the clutch broke loose. Could it have been anything else?
