I tried packing some more grease in the ball-socket at the bottom of the shift lever, and that helped a little bit, but did not completely eliminate it. I'll get underneath it on Saturday when I have some more time. Zip ties have definitely solved many car problems in the past, so maybe that's the key here! And yes I have a Pantera; which is funny to mention here because it's obnoxiously loud, and on long trips I wear ear plugs. I'd never notice a rattling shifter in that car. Hehehe. That fire breathing 351C behind the seats with straight pipes is not ear-friendly. Which is why I value a little bit of peace and quiet in my STi There's some pics here: http://www.coloradopantera.com/fallcolors100105.html This ad is not endorsed by this member.
