IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2002 Trader Rating: (12) | Of course, during the hot summer months having a higher viscosity is generally a good thing since our motors run pretty hot. I'm using Amsoil 5W-40 Euro blend for winter and then come summer I'll go back to either 10W-30 or 10W40 Amsoil. Although I don't notice any measureable loss and I check my oil all the time, I did notice a light amount of oil in my intercooler inlet. Proof enough that a catch can should help even stock cars. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | this might be a bit OT (and if so, ill start a new thread), but why is that some engines burn oil while others dont?? my uncle and i both have relatively new STi's running dino oil (his an 05, mine an 06). we both broke it in according to the "drive like you stole it method" and while my engine doesn't burn oil and at, his burns quite a bit. what could be so different between the engines?? i didnt seem to affect performance as our cars are always neck and neck; i can usually outdrive him on backroads, but i can do equally well in both cars. |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | I just had my 30k mile service and noticed they changed the oil. Ugh. They use this crapy 10W30 Motorcraft and I burn that up like Ricky Bobby on a race track. I was using Mobil 1 Synthetic (in which I didn't burn an ounce of), but now Im going to switch to Royal Purple since I just found an awesome deal on the internet (comes out to $5.50 per a quart). |
