Default Are you guys using manual diff??

Why would you go from 0W to 5W during the winter? Or was there something you did not like about the 0W? I just did the opposite of you. BTW, I went through about 2 quarts in 6k miles with the Amsoil 5W30. I drive hard most of the time also.

I'm actually just seeing if I do notice less oil consumption with the 5W30 ...

Well, I had used about 1/2 quart up to 1000 mi, now at about 1300 mi, I have used almost another half quart! Not sure why the sudden increase in the rate of consumption other than the fact that I have of course enjoyed the full range of rpm's and throttle travel since hitting my 1000 mi mark, whereas before I did not.

I hope the rate of consumption eases though, otherwise I'll be putting in a couple quarts between oil changes!!

OK Need4Speed, let me know if you notice anything different. Like I said I went through 2 in 6k. Really the only 2 times I checked I was about half way down on the dipstick. Both times I poured a little oil in, waited, checked the stick, poured more in, came back later and checked the stick, added more if needed... seems like half way between F and L on the stick is about 1 quart.

Just checked my car, 1400 miles. Hardly a drop registered on the dipstick. Think that could be why I have burned a tank and a half in 250 miles? They werent hard miles either.

you know what would be cool is if the motor would not start if the oil fell below a certain point. i use honda air compressors all day long and when they dont have enough oil you will never start it. i love seeing guys on a construction site changing plugs and checking fuel lines and all this and i walk over and check the oil and its bone dry. theres your problem. oh and they add oil and boom starts right up. so if subaru already does this then ihave not run my wrx out of oil yet. but i do burn a quart between oil changes.hope my sti will not do that bad. ryan
