Default Cold trans hard to shift

I'm sure you have all noticed that it is quite hard to shift into 1st and 2nd when it's really cold out for the first few miles in the morning, even after I fully warm the engine up . I'm getting close to my first trans oil change has anyone switched oil brands/types and had a better experience with the cold tranny?

Thanks.

Get into the habit of double-clutching when shifting during colder weather. It makes things MUCH easier for you and your transmission.

Double-clutching into 2nd gear:
Press clutch pedal in
Move shifter to neutral
Let clutch pedal out
Push clutch pedal in
Move shifter into second gear
Let clutch pedal out

Today comming home from work I noticed that it was difficult to engage the gears. It was about 40-35 degrees out. Car was sitting for about 11hrs with about a 2 min warm up.

i notice it also. not much you can do i think since some have reported switching to a full sythetic can give you issues later.

a shame really. i recall being able to shift my 300ZX from 1st down to second at 20 mph after switching to redline full synth in the tranni.

just wait. it'll get so cold out that when you start it in the morning and let the clutch out it'll feel like it wants to go forward even though it's in neutral.

Mine's been cold enough that it doesn't want to come out of gear. I expected trouble getting it into the next gear, but not coming out. After about 2-3 minutes of driving it's OK, but around town from light to light, that 2-3 minutes can seem like forever.

That is how I reverse out of the garage. The rpms are soo high that I do not need to press the acclerator any to reverse. Nevermind I see that you say neutral. I just assumed 1st gear.

What sort of issues were encountered with running full synth in the tranny?

I ran full synthetic and started getting synchro grind going into 3rd. I've since switched back to Valvoline 80W-90 dino.

Motul Gear 300. It shifted harder with it (in all gears) than with the Valvoline even when it was warm.

I've heard good things about it, but it just didn't work out for me. I've heard of another lube called Redline (I think). There was some additive I heard used in conjunction with it called Aftershock (again, I'm not sure of the name). People seemed to like it also.
