Default Tire hop normal when launching an sti??

I went to the track recently. I was getting some pretty serious tire hop, just wanted to know if this is normal. I tried many launching techniques including slowly slipping the clutch to launching the hell out of it, never managed better then a 1.88(cobb stg2). Temp was in the high 30's using stock re-070's.

My brother was out there in his cammed evo on fuzion tires and was able to cut a 1.77. I never really here anyone mention massive wheel hop like i was experiencing. Wheels would hope when ever the tires were spinning...is this normal?

No this is not normal and can be very bad for the car. If you feel serious wheel hop, let off. I've heard others mention occasional wheel hop but I've never experienced it myself, dragstrip or on regular asphalt.

Tire pressure plays a huge part in what happens. What are you running?

Do yourself a huge favor and purchase the Kartboy rear diff inserts or the Group N rear diff mount. The group N mount is just an exact replacement mount with very hard rubber bushings. The Kartboy rear diff inserts are polyurethane and half of the price. It makes launching much more predictable and really reduces or eliminates rear wheel hop.

That has to be the most painful launch I've ever seen. Bup-bup-bup-bup-bup-bup...OW.

What tire pressure were you using and what DCCD setting?
