IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Ok, before all you people start bashing me for going 100+ on a public road know that it was void of all other cars and you can see everything for over a mile (no turns). So no one was in danger, except me, and I will do whatever I want with my life .Anyways, for thoose of you that don't get offended by the occasional high speed run. I recently got my 06 all broken in and I wanted to really rip into her to make sure everything is kosher. I find the best way to make sure a car is running properly is to beat the crap out of it for a little bit and see how it responds. Anyways, i'm doing somewhere between 110-120MPH and a weird whinning noise starts coming from the back of the car. I slowed down and it immediately goes away. Thinking it was just a weird fluke I did one more run. Sure enough same noise at the same speed. I cruised at this speed for a few seconds and the noise was very constant. I almost want to say its a wheel bearing but I think that would start making noise at a lot lower of a speed. My next two guesses are either a) The way the air goes across the car it turns into a musical instrument at 110mph+ (I highly doubt this though) b) Its the rear differential, either low on oil or something else causing it to whine. Some of you might say its the tires, but I highly doubt it. Anyways, has anyone had similar experiences or want to take a guess on what it is? This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (2) | I get the same type of noise in my 05, to me it sounds like its comming from the right side mirror, but it could be comming from anywhere. there have been other threads on this topic such as this one: Strange noise past 120mph! Shouldnt be a problem, happens to me everytime I hit these speeds. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | my 05 does the same thing, the noise is kinda loud but hard to guess from which direction. after hearing everyone else give their idea i just decided it was the way the air is going around the car. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 Trader Rating: (1) | the '04's provide a beautiful harmonic vibration from the rear diff at 100 mph but i don't know about the 06's. i used to do 100 just to hear it. it was one of the things i had to give up when i did the whiteline diff bushings. |
