Question Assuming Kartboy Shifter is okay for 06

Can anyone confirm? Anyone installed. Man do I miss mine from my 04'.

Missing shifts is depressing. It's like finding out she's been wearing a push up bra.

The bushings are different, I don't know about the shift lever.

The Kartboy lever, Kartboy front bushing, and Kartboy rear bushing will all fit the 06 just fine. It's the TiC linkage bushings that do not fit the 06.

You are correct. We have an entire control arm and linkage for an 06 on the way to us right now. We'll be able to use it to take some measurements. I have a very sneaking suspicion that the fix we've been working on for the 5mt will also fit this setup just fine.

From previous reviews, members were complaining about vibration and noise after the kit installation. I know that vibration might occur due to improperly torqued bolts but are you guys going to change anything for the '06 in order to help the noise issue?

Actually for the 06 (as a direct result of work on the 5mt) we will be completely replacing the linkage.

Pantag what are doing with regards to your shifter? I assume you have the 06 stock shifter too.

^^^ Yes, for now I have the stock one. For a 35K car Subaru should have a better shifter in there. I am waiting for TiC to resolve the issue with the linkage and then I will probably get the whole super shifter kit from them. (Cross my fingers for vibrations, extra noise and maybe possible grinding?)

Just so you know - it may be a while. we've been working on the 5mt problem since we figured out the 6mt, and you'll notice we STILL don't have a fix out for it.

Vibration and noise are possible, but no short shifter, if properly designed, should make things grind.

I've been running the TiC kit in my 06 STI now for about a month, minus the the bushings that go right on the shaft into the tranny. The height of the lever and the "crisp" feel is much better than even the short throw option from subaru.

Turnin - maybe in the interim, you could offer a 06 kit that includes everything except the bushings you are working on. Just a thought.

Oh, and I have no issues with vibration or noise or anything like that. Just use 2 zip ties and everything is fine.

Hi Lance,

Actually there is a Kartboy kit for this called the STi lever combo+. In order to supply our customers with the same bundle I just put it up on our site the other day.

So, we can order the '06 shifter kit without the linkage. What do I lose due to the lack of the linkage bushings?

You lose just a little bit of the snappiness and tightness that the linkage bushings would get you. Don't get me wrong - the kartboy only stuff is still a pretty sweet setup.
