IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2004 | i would stick with the 75w-90 valvoline. i put redline 75w-90 redline mt-90 in my truck's tranny (i got it for under $4 a quart from a friend in the biz). it was fine for the first 3-4K- since then, i have gotten a slight grind going into 2nd,3rd, and 5th gears at times. this is not power shifting- it's a 22-re for god's sake! it started out ok, but has gotten progressively worse. there never was an issue with the valvoline run at 30K intervals up until the time i switched at 90K miles. next change in the truck= dino. i'll stick with dino in the car, too. |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2003 | That's what I stick w/ too - 75w 90 Valvoline. I read too much and can never find complain about the Valvoline 75w 90 on the STi combined w/ Subaru Rear LSD fluid |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2005 | I wish the Suby tranny was designed for ATF. Synchromesh is terrific fluid. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2004 | i am using redline 75w 90, and i was at LICmotorsports, they said that for a street car redline gear oil would be too strong/thin because it's bad for the sychros - subaru transmission needs a little bit friction, they say to run well. It's great for race cars but then again they change their oil like every other track day. I was recomended swepco ( http://www.swepcousa.com/lubesite/gear.htm) and that's what they run in their street/track car. -mike |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2004 | Is it safe to say that Redline 75W90NS will work fine in both the tranny and the rear diff? This IS what COBB recommends...but I don't want to jack anything up and am tempted to stick with the stock Valvoline stuff. |
