I just changed the tranny oil with 75w90 valvoline and the rear diff with the subaru lsd oil. Combined with the TiC shifter package, shifting is tight yet smooth. Definitely worth the time and money. Fairly easy maintence to perform, only specialized tool is the pump to get the oil into the rear diff.

And I also heard that Silkolene is not good for STi's rear diff so that many still keep using dyno for the rear diff.

I also heard there's a Subaru's synthetic tranny oil.
Is this true?

If I decide to use Dyno oil, what would Subaru use?

All I want is just grinding free just like OEM.
I don't really care about dyno/synth as they work great.
But why not spend more if I could get a better protection w/o additional headache.

STi owners or those w/ 6MT
Please help chime in on what oil do you use.
Please be specific on brand, viscosity and whether you put different oil in tranny and rear diff..

Thanks..
David
I put royal purple 90wt in trans and rear diff about 15000 miles ago. my car now shifts smoother than it did when new, I have no grinding at all unless im shifting with no clutch and i botch a rev match. the oil already has limited slip additive in it and I swear im getting better gas milage(.5-1.5 more mpg). I just changed my oil today and when I checked my trans oil it is still purple. I never tried any other type of oil but after using this stuff im not gonna bother trying anything else, I love the smoothness of my gearbox/shifts. like butta!

Motul 90PA LSD oil is about $20 for a 2 qt. bottle. It is a mechanical LSD oil just like the Subie stuff. I doubt you'll be able to find a Motul dealer locally-it usually has to be ordered from the 'net.

not to be rude whitson but how many opinions are you looking for, exactly? if there's not that many people responding it's probably because it's been done to death.
