I have heard rumors of Subaru not putting the proper R&D into the new 2.5L STI motor. Like they tried too hard to get it out before the EVO. DOes anybody know or can vouch for the reliability of this motor and or drivetrain?

??? Did you post this somewhere else? I remember answering this exact same question. lemme guess a local subie shop told you this? Obviously the drive train is solid as in the thread above this one right now is talking about how they couldnt get anything to break (except the axel) doing 7k rpm clutch dumps over and over... as for the engine, it seems pretty dang solid to me, other then ecu problems (which are only on some cars and can be fixed with a reflash). Or you can just get ready for the UTEC coming up soon.
