Unhappy Drive shaft blues......

I received my ACPT carbon fiber drive shaft at work today and I was like a little kid opening a christmas present. The smile on my face suddenly dissapeared when I immediately saw the damage. A screw punctured and got stuck in the box during shipping. The screw poked through the packing material and chipped away at the shaft like little evil woodpecker all the way down to the fibers. I am so dissapointed at this stroke of bad luck and was so looking foreward to the install this weekend....NOT.

I guess you could say I really got SCREWED.

On the brighter side. I immediately called ACPT and taked to James who was very helpful and immediatley got on the phone to UPS and called me back. He asked me to send pictures of the damage to him and that he would be sending me a new shaft on Monday so I wouldn't have to wait much longer. This company would appear to look after its customers and so far I am impressed.

For some reason the uploads keeps failing so I can't show you guys any pics of the damage. (I am not over limit as far as I know and deleted a bunch of previous uploads just to make sure)

Man that really sucks. At least you won't be at fault and they have to send you another one and then they has it out with UPS.

I didn't realize this was a problem because no one has reported it. I just tried to upload a file to test it and it is in fact broken. I have found the problem and everything should be fixed shortly.

EDIT: Problem fixed. Feel free to upload your pictures whenever you have a chance .

Also, I'm sorry to hear about your driveshaft. Luckily ACPT has great customer service.

What terrible news!

Man, you driveshaft took a beating?

Good to hear that ACPT will be taking care of the problem quickly. James is a really cool guy!

Look forward to hear you impressions.

I am so sorry to hear about this Paul in light of past UPS foul ups.

If ACPT did not move quickly, we would have sent you the last one we have in stock. As the result of your previous experience, I made sure everyone had full insurance. I would have never guessed you would be on the receiving end twice where things got messed up. Let me know if we cando anything.

I see the glass as half full - you got a lighter driveshaft than we did!

Glad they're replacing it so quick though, that's good to hear. So I guess they made some extras at the same time for future sales...

Thanks guys, it is not the end of the world, just frustrating ,more than anything. Hopefully things will be rectified quickly. You think UPS would take better care of their packages. UPS just lost more money on this one shaft than they made on the shipping of all the shafts.

Got the new one installed. James at ACPT was very helpful. No vibration issues. Generally very please and I still have the old damaged shaft to boot as it has not been picked up yet. Good service from ACPT.

Anyone want a damaged CF drive shaft? Just kidding.....

So if yours (and I read some others) is installed and doesn't have any vibration, that must mean the vibes that others are feeling is due to an out of balance condition. Hopefully mine is balanced...

possibly, or perhaps I am not aware of it or able to detect it. My dash and steering wheel do not appear to shake or rattle at all (I have just gone up to 100mph) yet. Some of the other people seem to have grpN hardened tranny mounts which my do less of job dampening new vibrations. It is all speculation on my part.
