turnin,

do you have to download install instructions for all your parts, or are you guys planning on including them in the packages now?

I've thought about this off and on for a while now. Here's my train of thought, and you can tell me what you think.

I've been burned many times by trying to follow the hardcopy instructions that come with things (car parts, child car seats, you name it) only to discover that there are updated version on the website. Heck, I don't even bother using the driver disk that comes with computer parts anymore since it's 99.9% of the time out of date. Because of this I really like having the instructions on-line. That way you always know where they are, and you get the latest version.

now, as for instructions themselves - if it's for a TiC specific part we like to have them out there (yes, I know we still owe pretty ones for the fender cowl braces) on our site. If it's a part that is covered over on scoobymods we like to link over there.

I know you weren't griping. I just ran through my thought process on it hoping that you'd be able to point some things out to make working with TiC a better experience for everyone.

one of the biggest +'s about buying from you guys is how easy it is to contact you guys and how helpful and willing to answer questions you are. i can't wait to order my ss kit, klunk killer, and tranny bushings.....and to see the difference it makes in my car

You're going to LOVE the Klunk Killer. I'm going to drive on it a bit more and then post a review, but the NVH is pure positive, no negative. Makes the car that much more "alive" and especially the rear diff bushings, I can really tell the difference.

I used the extra spring from my TXS FMIC BOV. Worked perfectly. I still have the rattle so I gues I'll jack her up later and adjust the reverse. Thanks guys. I really should just fix my stereo and that would be the end of it.

The rattle is still around. Driving me up a wall. I just want to rip out my whole shifter. ARG! It's mostly there and loudest in 3rd and 5th, but I can hear it other gears at certain times. Also when I get high in the revs 5500-7200rpms the vibration from the engine/exhaust causes it to rattle.

<sigh> If TiC was closer I'd just drive out and see Clint and get this fixed, but OH is too far from CT for this. Any shifter experts in the CT area that want to help me solve this?

Did you actually tighten the linkage I posted above? I am confident that is your issue.

Sorry if this is a newb question but Ive been reading for hours trying to learn more about my newly acquired STi. I bought the car used and the shifter feels a lot shorter than my M3 I had before. How can I tell if there is a short shifter installed or the aftermarket bushings? Thanks guys!

Just unsnap the black leathery shift boot that is around the shifter, slide it down a little, and take a look at it. There are pictures of the options of shifters out there (try turninconcepts.com) and you should be able to just compare them to yours to see. The kartboy is fairly obvious as it will be painted black and likely have a yellow sticker on it that says "kartboy". I'm not sure what the factory SS looks like but you should be able to find a picture pretty easily.

To check the bushings you have to look under the car. If they are Kartboy you should see some gray ones at the end of the long lever that is closest to the ground; stockers should be black. It will be hard to determine if you have TiC linkage bushings by looking because both them and the stockers are black. Hope this helps.

Oh yeah, and I should have been more clear. The longer lever I'm talking about is the one connected to the shifter assembly right above the tranny cross brace.

i searched but can't seem to find a resolution.

I have a 2006 sti with the "optional" short throw shifter.
I find third gear very difficult to find. If you force it i slam and grind into the shift gate and feels very sloppy and rubbery. If i go slowly, well it's slow.
I feel the throws are sufficiently short, but hate, HATE, the sloppy rubbery feel and difficulty in finding third gear.
What would be my best options to improve this? will the TiC of Kartboy bushing work on an 06?

i think your problem is youre trying to "find" 3rd. don't try to find it; let it find itself. from second just move it straight up smoothly. as you cross neutral it will move right on it's own. it's easier when you force it to end up wide into fifth. be smooth and slower. don't mess up your sychros. the best shift kit in the world can't shift for you.
