I'll put a link in the Threads of Interest post for this section. I think that's the best place for it.

I love this kit. I can not wait to drive the car. Totally changes how the car feels. One of the best mods, besides......a huge turbo.LOL

any time you stiffen up an area of the car, youre going to experience more noise and vibration. if you don't like noise or vibration, leave it alone. personally, i can't get enough of it.

Default TiC SS Update 1 month

After a month and who knows how many thousands of shifts, the TiC SS kit broke in sooo nicely. Now the shifts are positive and silky, I'd say 50% of the notchiness went away. Totally subjective, but that's my best estimate. The tranny whine is still there especially in gears 1 - 3, but I like it, it sounds more performance oriented than stock.

Still two thumbs up for the TiC Super Shift Kit

All is good now..!!!!

After looking things over, it appeared to me, that the pivot bushings were blownout...perhaps overtightened. When I removed the console there were pieces of the pivot bushing plus bushing dust all over the place.

There may have been over issues but that one really was evident. I even had the SPT assembly replaced too, with new bushings through-out.

All is good....thanks to Ben Wang's "Asian Love" he applied... Plus Clint (TIC) being very interested in this and sending new bushings out...Customer Service is alive and well..!!!

Hopefully it'll stay good for a long while...

I love my kit also but now I am getting a rattle on all gears. When I take my hand off the shifter it rattles, with my hand resting on the shifter it doen't rattle. What does that relate too. I know its a dumb loose bolt. Since I can recreate on cue it must be a easy fix. What's loose? (besides my exgirlfriend)

C43....each install seems to act a little differently. Some are tight and quiet, others aren't.

Mine is really good now, finally..!!! However, the one thing I would've done different while it was all apart, would've been to install the "spring" on the shift lever...

I thought Clint posted that somewhere from another client. The guy used a Rainbird sprinkler spring to add just enough tension on the lever to stop any remaining rattle. My Harleys have this concept too. On the foot shifter going into the transmission, a small spring(aftermarket) or a thin rubber sleeve(factory) provides the same affect. Applies tension to ensure the shift peg dosen't rattle or virabte too much.

If you can rest your hand on the lever and it reduces the rattles, then the spring thingie will work for you. If I ever have to go back in for any reason, I will install it. It's simply another level of insurance against rattles and vibration. If others try this with consistently good results, perhaps Clint can provide a Tic spring opposed to a visit to Home Depot...

Check the fulcrum bolt. 8.3 lbs is all you want. if you find that it keeps getting loose use some locktite (might want to just go ahead and send your exgirlfriend a tube too).

I've got a horrible case of the rattles too. I'll post a short video when I can.

Right now it only happens when the tranny is warmed up. It happens in 3rd and 5th gear the most and a little in 4th gear. Only at deceleration from any rpm over 4000.

I have two zip tips on the reverse cable inside the car and one outside the car.
When I have the rattle it does not stop or lessen when I pull up on the reverse lock out ring.
I checked the torque on the fulcurm bolt and it's not over tight and its not loose.
When I put my hand on the shifter it does not stop the rattle, but it does lessen it.
If I put pressure on on the lower part of the shifter(where one part is welded to the other) it almost goes away completely.

It is driving me insane!!! Any suggestions? I'll post a video with the noise and some pics of the install when I can.

Thanks.

hmmmmm.... that sounds like a new type of rattle as you've checked for everything on the list. Since you state that if you put pressure on the lower part of the shifter I suspect it may be coming from the cup down at the bottom. pull the snap ring, and pull the cup out. make sure there are two o-rings to hold the cup together. One goes toward the top and the other fits in a groove right at the bottom. Put some grease in the receiver for the cut, reseat the cup and make sure the snap ring fully seats in it's groove in the receiver.

Then do this - take it for a spin with the platic console removed. If it still rattles this will let us pinpoint exactly where it's coming from.

OH!! and it just occured to me since you state that it's coming mostly when you're in 3rd and 5th. Make sure the control arm is not rubbing on the metal plate that holds down the rubber dustboot.

I just ordered from the GB and all of these issues make me question doing it myself. Any good reputable shops in either the AZ area or Minneapolis area? I'm usually ok doing it myself, but I'm still a novice.

For the record I had a shop install mine

You are probably better off doing it yourself and making sure it's done right.

Ok, here's what I can see:

In the first pic the zip ties look good. After seeing that I have no doubts that you did the one under the car well also.

In the third pic I do not see any signs of rubbing on the control arm, but just to make sure can you put the car in 3rd and 5th and check that to make sure they aren't touching.

The one thing that I can see that might be causing a problem is in the second pic. If you look at the clamp points for the snap ring it looks like the o-ring is unseated, and has pushed a couple of the teeth of the socket inward. Use something dull and try and push the o-ring back down into it's seat. Please be careful not to tear it as I don't have any spares sitting around so it will take me a while to get your a replacement if it does. If you can't push it down into the seat remove the snap ring and reseat it by pulling the cup out of the receiver.

Once you have done that leave the console off and take it for a spin. See if you can further isolate where the rattle is coming from, and we'll get a fix figured out.

Clint thanks so much for your support. It is appreciated!

I think you are right about the oring coming over the white plastic. I just compared my pics to pics on scoobymods.com

I don't have the tool to undo the snap ring so I'll have to live with this till I can get one.
