Default Dccd

I understand the whole DCCD settings. But what settings are used for certain situations? I usually just drive in auto. Can you drive in a certain setting and not ruin the car.

Auto for daily driving. Lock for ice/snow/slippery conditions. Open for when you want to break traction, and the settings in between for varling levels of slip.

OK

after multiple searches on "DCCD" "explained" "documents" and other various mixes of thus, i can not find something perhaps explaining what is the percentages of power distribution for each setting for the DCCD.

i.e.= when it is set on the highest setting? [lock]
when it is set on the second setting? [largest green(?) down arrow]

and so on...
what is there, like 7 settings going from top to bottom?

so if you "scroll" it all the way down, it should be 90% to the rear?

This topic has been covered many times, and basically the Subaru Technician's Guide (or whatever it's called) says the settings are Auto ; 100% ; 85% ; 65% ; 35% ; 15% ; 0%. That's going from top down. These settings change the amount of lockup placed on the center differential, which can affect torque distribution but it's not like you can say, "hmmm, I'm going to use this other setting to change the torque from 35f/65r to 50f/50r." I think the DCCD was designed more for an advanced traction control device, instead of a manual torque distribution device. Besides, I don't think you will ever see 90% torque going to the rear wheels unless you have some traction issues occuring with your front wheels.

Power distribution is always the same AFAIK, 35:65. It's the percentage of "lock up" that changes with the manual settings, as SVT said.

I have never seen ANY documentation from Subaru that broke down the indivdual settings at all.

I just moved this thread to IWSTI.com > STi Technical > Drivetrain. The sticky "threads of interest" message at the top of that section has links to DCCD information. These are a great way to find information you are looking for without having to search, or if a search does not turn up what you want.

Every section of the site has a similar sticky. If people see threads they think deserve to be added to "threads of interest" in any section, please let a moderator know.

For everyday driving DCCD settings: I would say that AUTO, and 0% (OPEN) are the settings in which driving "all the time" wouldn't do any damage. I would only use LOCK when trying to scale an incline with poor traction or when stuck in snow or mud, after you get going I would set it back to AUTO. Any other use or settings would involve experienced drivers on different types of tracks & competitions (if any are on this message board please let us know how to use this device properly ).

Why did you find that to be an ideal setting for snow?

"how" is really the question. the answer is, two upstate ny winter seasons on blizzak lm-22's on up to 14" of powder and i have an 1,100 ft long dirt/gravel driveway that's like an off-road adventure through the woods.

i beat the snow plows to the street when i can. it's like skiing that first run as soon as the lifts open(isfh)

OK, but why did you find that to be better then LOCK?

...because "lock" doesn't work as well? if youre waiting for me to throw words like "traction" and "control" around, don't. it's more fun being a wise guy (isfh).

hey, in a couple months you'll get to try it yourself.

FWIW, "lock" worked the best for me last winter, although I have to admit I didn't extensively test it against settings other than "Auto".

I'm sorry but I don't get it, are you joking, being sarcastic, or what??? I'm might be a new member on here but I've been on NASIOC since 03 and I used to have an 04 STI back then.
