Default Simple REDLINE question for you folks ...

Im coming from a wrx, so bare with the questions ...

Im at 17k and i want to change the tranny and rear diff fluid ... with redline

I did my rex 3 times with the exact weight subartu specifies and didnt notice my shifting to be any better or anyworse, but its nice to have fresh fluids in there.

Now, I also was thinking of doing the same thing, using subaru specified weight in the drivetrain BUT I was just wondering what you guys have found out about the fluid in the STI drivetrain, should I use stock fluids or do you other suggestions?

THX!

Do a search on the forum for redline, but some have had issues with it. I believe the best combo is subaru LSD fluid for the rear and Subaru tranny fluid. Some have used Motul for the tranny and front diff and have had good sucess.

My car is very happy with Motul Gear 300 75W90 in the tranny... I haven't changed the rear diff fluid yet.

One thing to be cautious of Chris, is the rear LSD might slip too much if the fluid you add is too slick. Read up on Cobbtuning's site.

thx for the info.

Im a BIG fan of using subaru stuff and following Subaru guidelines ... well, they did just spend XXX million in R&D on their products ....

I have no problem using Subaru Fluids AT ALL ,,, but sometimes aftermarket stuff is cheaper (sometimes) and better for the car overall.

im continuing my search.

I have Redline in my tranny...no problems...works well. I bought the subaru rear dif oil though instead of off the shelf oil.

I called 3 subaru dealers in the south SF bay area this morning about rear LSD oil (subaru p/n K0904AA080 OR K030570900).
Dealer #1= "we get it out of a big drum out back but don't sell it"
Dealer #2= "Bring it in & we'll take care of it for you."
Dealer #3 (the most trusted of the 3)= We have a service bulletin from subaru saying that we cannot get the special subaru rear LSD oil so if you come in we will sell you redline.
