IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | hey everyone, i just installed the KB SS on the car. i like the look and feel, but havent done any real driving yet. is there supposed to be more effort to shifting with this SS? i don't have the bushings put in yet, but it feels like things are much shorter, and tighter that it takes more effort to get into gear, not much, but its noticeable. am i just being paranoid or what? also, any tips for installing the Bushings? i printed and studied the scooby mods guide. do i really need to remove the crossmember? the reason why i dont want to is cause my torque wrench is outta whack cause a friend dropped it. thanks for reading! | Junior STI Driver | There's not a lot of room to do it without taking the tranny support crossmember off, but I know some people have said they did. If you know someone who has done it before or who has a lift, SERIOUSLY consider paying them to do it for you--it is a _major_ pain in the ass. Do it yourself ONLY if you're interested in poking around under your car just to learn what goes on there... |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | yeah, i'd like to learn more about the car. call me crazy, but just for kicks, i did the SS install without lifting the car and putting the reverse lock out in the up position. plus my driveway is on a slight incline. later today i'm gonna bring it over to a friends garage and use a jack and jack stands to do the bushings and to put a zip tie on the cable. my friend is a subaru mechanic, so if its too hard to do, i'll just pay him to do it. |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2004 Trader Rating: (2) | IIRC, there is one thing to note about the Scoobymods directions - they used a car with an aftermarket turboback. There was no catalytic converter to reach around, slightly misleading (but not intentional)... This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
