are these good clutches? i need to upgrade mine. anyone using them?

I had a few friends with them when I was on the Civic scene (no lude comments please). They seemed to hold well but when they got hot they would chatter like crazy so they weren't awesome for track days or doing multiple drag passes. Overally for a driveable clutch, they seemed pretty good and inexpensive. However, if you want to get max performance, I would probably look at another brand like Exedy or an upgraded JDM STi model.

i think im going to baby the clutch and hope i can make it last until i can get an RPS cluch.

RPS makes great units but they're expensive to get ahold of. The good thing is, once you make the initial investment, you can rebuild parts of the cluch easily without having to purchase all new components. The RPS rebuild kits are much cheaper than buying a whole new unit from another company. I helped a friend put a RPS carbon racing clutch in his 96 Supra TT and it absolutely screamed but the kit cost almost $2600 if I recall. If you're going to put something like ~$300-400 into a Spec clutch, you may as well hold off for a while and save up the extra couple hundred to get the RPS clutch, I think they're in the neighborhood of ~$700.

yeah im going to hold out for the RPS one. i can get it for $620 shipped

Thats a good price for the STi model. They have 2 that I know of, one that holds 550 ft/lb and 600, which are you getting?

SPEC clutches are actually amazing... I've sold ACT, Exedy, GT Spec, RPS, and finally SPEC. When it came to least chattering, and most ability to handle power thrown at it the SPEC clutches always win hands down around here. However, ACT makes some sick clutches above stage 3 :P

thanks for the info. i want something light on the clutch but to be able to hold big power

spec's are what I sell for for cobra's/camaro's/corvette's our shop vette with 780whp runs a spec stage 5 and hasn't had any issues, break-in is key on these to keep them from chattering .. could be a good daily driven clutch. I will probably be putting a stage 3 in my sti down the road
