IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | I noticed some peculiar sensations while driving this past saturday on some very twisty roads (by twisty i'm talking anything from 100 degrees to maybe 180 degrees each turn, with very tight radii). I was mainly in 3rd gear around the turns and staying just shy of the RE070's screeching threshhold. I would describe the peculiar feeling as one of binding... It really did feel as though the slow (inside) tires would very briefly drag before being brought up to speed on the turn exit... Similar, I suppose, to when turning hard in a parking lot and giving a bit of gas. I think that my Whiteline Sways (in sig.) most likely compounded the weirdness, as I'm sure the inside rear tire would periodically lift. The DCCD was left in Auto. Anyway, I'm fairly sure that the above can be attributed to all the differentials doing their job, but none the less, it was disconcerting... Would anyone care to shime in on whether or not they have felt something similar on a "tightly twisted road"... or that perhaps my differentials are beginning to have problems... g |

| Professional STI Driver | It's been a while since I posted and interesting note on the ABS sensor. So you're saying that now with the new ABS sensor when you're driving/turning slowly NOT in auto mode you don't get any noises? After installing front/rear swaybards, has anyone experienced noises while engaging 1st gear (perfect example would be getting to your house/driveway uneven pavement ... it feels like the gear is disengaging a pop and then the car goes. My guess is that the suspension is so much stiffer that it tricks the differential? It doesn't do it all the time just when I put the front of the car on my ramp/driveway, but if I engage the gear before it won't do it ... Last edited by PSMBoXer; 01-25-2006 at 04:25 PM. |

as a preventative thing, I was going to have the bearing and hub changed.. well, I was just going to take the whole housing to a machine shop and have them do the pressing to save $$$.. but I couldn't get the damn e-brake cable off!! so I slap it back on because I had a backup appt. at the dealership to get the job done, but just my luck, I didn't install the abs sensor correctly and ended up damaging it. the ABS light came on and everything.. the dealer was closing (i was late) so I took it home and put it all back together correctly and the abs light went off.. but I knew I had damaged it. from then on the rear was pretty much locked whenever i made a turn no matter what mode it was in, even AUTO. got it replaced and the problem went away! now if that wasn't long enough for you, here's my theory on why it locked up the rear.. 1. the damage I caused to the sensor ended up grinding it down and shortening it a little. 2. since the abs light went off after i put it back correctly even though it was damaged, I think the sensor was generating enough voltage to work correctly at speed 3. since at low speed the sensor wasn't generating enough voltage to detect, the ECU was thinking that the wheel was locked up and the other wheel was loosing traction, thus causing it to lock of the rear diff. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | i had my abs sensors replaced a while back, and the car still made the sound. it actually mentions in the manual that some sounds on low speeds under hard cornering are completely normal. There have been many different conclusions to this problem...some say normal..some say not normal. i guess bottom line is the car drives fine, some sounds are heard under tight situations but i guess thats expected out of a car with so much tech in it. the day my diff fails or whatever ill get it checked...
