IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | So today I decided to replace my power steering fluid with Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF ... at 24,500 miles Procedure was like this: 1.- Bought a pump thing for $6.00 in PepBoys 2.- Bought a quart of Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF (Dexron III compliant), for $8 .. 3.- With the car off, I sucked off as much of the oil I could with the pump: 4.- With the car OFF (don't turn the car on because the power steering pump needs lubrication when it's running!)... I turned the wheel lock to lock several times, in an attempt to drain out the old oil ... Sucked out the rest with the pump. 5.- Refilled to the top line with the new ATF fluid. 6.- Turned the car on, turned the wheel lock to lock several times ... I repeated steps (3) through (5) three times ... Steering seems to have less effort with the new fluid. Thought I'd share with you guys. I like all my stuff synthetic ...
