Default Tranny fluid Mix and match?

Hi

I hear a lot of people mixing 3 Redline 75W90NS and 1 Redline Shockproof Lightweight for wrx tranny, and they got very great succss. So i want to know anyone try this for STI? Since the STI tranny is 6 speed, so anyone know the quantity for the STi Tranny. I really want to change my tranny fluid, but don't know which one to go for it, so any suggestion please?

i would highly reccomdend the Motul Gear 300 oil. I just put it in my car, after having the valvoline dino oil, and it makes a load of difference. it is kind of expensive, about 60 bucks to change the oil, but it really does work.

I would stay away from Redline Tranny stuff, I and a few people have had bad experiences with it. Also when it comes to mixing fluids, make sure to read the containers and see whats mixable and what isn't. I liked the Royal Purple 75W90 (it was pretty good) and the Motul Gear 300 75w90 I have in now is VERY nice.

There are a few using the Shockproof light with very positive results. I have a 5th gear grind & some say it can help with this. Here is a pretty good thread about the whole deal:

Just got mine in the mail yesterday, let ya know what I think after changing & have a few days of drive time on it.

I was using the Redline 75W-90, but started getting the 5th gear grind, which later turned into the down shift into 4th gear grind as well. After replacing the oil with Redline Shockproof Light I have had no grind problems at all. As a matter of fact, it shifts better now than the day I got the car. I was at Summit Point Raceway on Monday and it ran great, no grinds at all.

I will try to attach a PDF with the oil changing instructions, but if it doesn't work, here are the important specs:
<O
Capacity = 4.3 us qts
Tightening Torque - Oil Pan Side = 44 N-m
Tightening Torque - Clutching Housing Side = 70 N-m

I may try the Amsoil SEVERE GEAR 75W-90 for both tranny and rear diff. Anyone try this before? Someone send a e-mail to Redline to ask which gear oil do they recommend for us, they recommend the 75w90NS for the tranny and 75w90 for the rear diff. So do using the same oil which they recommend but getting the bad experiences. Thanks.

I put the ShockProof in today & drove about 30 mi., it seems to shift a bit easier. The 5th gear grind was still there....barely..... only when I really shifted hard, a definant marked improvement.
I will give it a week & post weather there are any more +/- with it.

I think the bad experiences are coming from the regular redline, not the Shockproof.
Correct me if i'm wrong fellas.
I am using the shockproof light. I only put it in the trans so far, not the rear diff.

Kyle,
Some are using a blend of ShockProof gear oils with apparently good results but we don't recommend them for most street applications. My recommendations would be the same in the STI as the WRX, as the same fluids are being called for.
For low temperatures some of our other products will flow better than the ShockProof. For racing if the shiftability is good, that is important though chatter from the limited slip shouldn't be an issue.
Regards, Dave
Red Line Oil
those oils are 75w90 in the dif and 75w90ns in the trany.

i used 70% ams server gear 75w90, 30% NS in the trany and it works well
i tryed server gear in the dif, but i'm getting a bit of chatter. so i'm going to switch to redline.

surfa2527 - yes only put the light in the trany, you could also mix it with 75W90 NS: 1 bottle light and 3 NS. if u want to use shock proof in the dif use heavy and add 2-3oz of LSD Additive (for chatter)
