Car=2005 STI

Can I get a FMIC for 1st perf mod? If not...

What would be the must have mods in order for a FMIC to cause no ill side effects?

Thanks.

Bigger turbo. Otherwise the FMIC really isn't necessary.

front mount is pretty far down on the "what should i do first" list, like JJ said the only thing that would make the front mount worth it is a new (bigger)turbo.

there are a million threads on what a good first mod is, but i'd go with tbe and accessport.

OK that makes sense, I understand I don't NEED a FMIC, and that it won't be a power adder, but I am trying to get rid of the STI hood and wing. So a FMIC will allow me to get a scoopless hood. So I am just wanting to know if a FMIC will perform properly at least as well as the stock one for now. Thanks

Dan

if thats the only thing your modding, your performance will hinder because of the longer tubing. Like Bruce says, your gonna get to know the meaning of lag pretty fast.

Now what hood do you plan on running there? The RS hood is much heavier then ours... so what's it going to be? CF?

you'll need a aftermarket front bumper to fit your FMIC.

Thanks Bruce and chowder. I guess I'm waiting.

I Really want to get rid of the hood scoop and rear spoiler. I want a total sleeper. Debadged and all.

JJ18Sniper I was planning on a CF hood, but I will spray it instead of going black on white.

Thanks all!

Dan

You can run most FMIC with your OEM bumper, just have to trim it.

I'd get a turbo back exhaust first.

It's great how everyone is talking from "experience". You can get like an Injen FMIC and you will not notice lag at all. If you get the APS DR750, you might notice small lag...nothing like if you were running a bigger turbo. The stock top mount sucks. I don't care about people saying "Oh, it can support 400 hp", yea, it supports 400 hp in 30 degree weather with ice packs surrounding the car. I would lose consistant 3 tenths of a second once that intercooler got hot. So if you are worried about the slight possibility of the car spooling a hundred rpm later, you'll lose a lot more with the stock top mount.

Now if you want a good all around FMIC that you can use with your stock setup, get the Perrin.

Well, you will certainly need a different intake, as you cannot run the stock with a FMIC.
