I was planning on "stealthing" my STi. A FMIC will work fine. The added volume of the FMIC is inconsequential compared to the volume of air that the engine breathes at any given moment. i.e. if lag goes from .5 seconds to .6 seconds, do you care??

Probably not.

Also, it will chill the intake charge better. Probably no more power will result with stock turbo and tuning, but a cooler intake charge buys you more margin against detonation. So the engine will run safer. Also, this may (very speculative) allow your computer to run more aggressive ignition timing, which may help a bit.

Botom line is it won't hurt anything.

As a side benefit you will be lowering the center of gravity of the car and actually reducing the weight on the bumper, as the intercooler and jap bumper beam weigh less together than the stock US bumper beam.
