| Amateur STI Driver | best way to stop this car is mash on the brakes.. the ABS will do the work. as for engine breaking along with the brakes... save your clutch.. car's brake distance depends on friction between tires and road not how big the brake is.. IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | For almost every car, the most powerfull force it can apply is negative acceleration via the brakes. How quickly you'll be able to stop is mostly dependent upon the tires, and how much grip they have on the ground. Modern hydraulic brake systems don't have much trouble exceeding this limit. If you're only trying to slow down, engine braking will not help you stop quicker. Now if you loose your brakes, the situation may be different. This ad is not endorsed by this member.
