IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2008 | Hey Guys, I'm looking for opinions about a twin plate clutch & lightweight flywheel combo for my STI. I live in a city that has a big traffic jam all the time, so please comment based on this fact Thanks! |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2004 | The Exedy Twin Plate is exactly what you're looking for. If you want to consider a single plate that will hold the torque of that GT35, consider a RPS StreetMax or an ACT SS clutch. All 3 of them will do the job and are very streetable. They are a little grabby compared to the stock clutch, but you'll get used to it quickly. The Exedy clutch is significantly more money than the other 2, but it also comes with a brand new, slightly lighter flywheel - it is also rebuildable. Let us know if you need exact model numbers; they are all terrific clutches. Last edited by Flycaster; 04-01-2009 at 04:21 PM.. |

| Junior STI Driver Feedback Score: 0 reviews | I drove a friend's 06 sti with and exedy twin plate and it was very harsh for city driving, also on my 04 I had an hks twin plate and that cause nothing but trouble, I broke axels and I hated my car when I drove it in the city, I now have an ACT single plate SS clutch and I really like how the car feels and how it drives and also it is much better for driving in the city... just my 2 cents... |

| Senior STI Driver Feedback Score: 6 reviews | I ran my Exedy Twin Plate in my 05 for about 20k miles and I never could complain about it. For a clutch that can hold power so well and be very easy drive you can't beat it. It was little more difficult to drive than stock, but nothing major and it was definitely the best clutch I've used in traffic situations. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 | I used to have a twin plate yrs and yrs ago on a 4dr supra but it was a solid hub disk and it was a PITA, recently my buddy with an 05 has the exedy with a sprung hub, first time i drove it stalled it and then every other month i drive it and honestly i stalled it once and only coz i forgot it was a multi plate clutch and I wouldnt hesitate to put this in my car...i could easily get used to it... |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2004 | Yes, stay away from the unsprung models of any type clutch, except for hard racing. The TP has significantly lighter pedal throw than the other 2, but you will get used to whatever you buy unless you're a sloppy shifter. FWIW, I've used my TP in stop 'n go city traffic with no problems whatsoever, but you must launch the car every so often to keep the plates clean otherwise they will start to chatter. |
