Default Octane?

Just got done reading the book cover to cover and didn't read my answer there. Not that I plan on using it anytime soon, but this whole manual dccd thing has me a bit confused. Once I set it to manual and start turning the knob, the farther down the indicator lights get the more power is being sent to the rear wheels? The book never puts it in these terms, it just says that the further down the indicator, the less the active locking something or other is active. Anyone care to put this in laymen's terms for us simpletons?

Excellent link. Thanks. I think I will just leave my dial at Diff Free/Open and leave the button on auto for a while.

I still have not heard a great explanation of how the Automatic DCCD works? Anyone found anything on this yet. I think the car handles the best on this setting so far. Occationally you can hear some locking noise while driving corners between 20-40MPH. I wonder if the system learns how the users likes to drive.

Hehehe...., you're a goof. From my understanding in the auto mode the dccd will adjust itself based on what the cars yaw and speed sensors pick up. if the car is accellerating from a stop then the torque is pushed back..., and in a quick slow down the torque is pushed forward... and like wise in cornering based on the accellerations....

DCCD discussions should be in Powertrain rather than handling. So that other thread should be HERE

Done. I guess when connie originally wrote the post it was appropriately in the handling forum, but then the subject shifted to DCCD
