Default question on diff fluid and tranny oil

i went to dealer to pick up some diff fluid and tranny oil and the guy gave me motul 90a diff fluid. i asked for the tranny oil and he said its the same thing and i could the diff fluid for my tranny. Is this correct? How much is needed for the rear diff? and tranny?

You should use Motul Gear 300 for the tranny. The tranny needs 75w-90. It takes about 4.3 quarts. The rear diff takes just over a quart. Just fill until it won't take any more. I've heard of people using the tranny fluid for the rear diff but never 90PA fluid for the tranny. I would stick with what is recommended 75w-90 for the tranny and 90PA for the rear diff

For the 04-06 STI rear diff with the clutch style LSD, use the 90PA, as it has the proper friction modifiers in it.

For the 07 STI rear diff with the Torsen T2 LSD, you can use standard 75W-90 gear oil like Motul Gear 300, because you don't need the friction modifiers like the clutch style diffs.

Use 75W-90 for the tranny(Motul Gear 300 is good stuff). I wouldnt put 90PA in there.
