Default Rear Differential Problem??

Now I just traded in my 06 WRX for the 06 STi a couple of weeks ago and put in my exhaust and other under-the-car mods Tuesday. When doing so I noticed that the rear differential seemed to have a sort of dirty fluid similar to that of oil or other engine bay fluids. What is this fluid and should I be worried that my rear diff. is "leaking?"

it's gear oil (80-90w), and it shouldn't be leaking. without any pics it's hard to say, but i would say have your dealer check it out asap, good luck!

Either that diff cover needs tightening or somebody pulled those axles out during a suspension swap. Check the fluid levels ASAP, no, yesterday. If it is low, get some Subaru LSD fluid and throw it in there. Don't break your temperature probe.

That's nothing bad, and looks about normal. It's just residual coming out the vent at the top. If it were wet, and all over stuff then I'd be concerned.
